Jay Inslee

Born February 9, 1951 in Seattle, Washington, Jay Inslee is the Governor of Washington. He attended the University of Washington, earning a degree in 1973, and Willamette University, earning a J.D. in 1976. After graduation, Inslee worked as a city prosecutor before being elected to the Washington House of Representatives in 1988, followed by re-election in 1990. In 1992, he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives from the Fourth Congressional District of Washington but then lost re-election two years later. In 1996, Inslee made a failed attempt for Governor of Washington. In 1998, Inslee was once again elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, this time from the First Congressional District of Washington and then stayed in that position until 2012, when he was elected Governor of Washington. He was subsequently re-elected to that position in 2016. Inslee and his wife Trudi have three children.

Jay Inslee announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination on March 1, 2019.
