Born January 18, 1963 in Washington, D.C., Martin O’Malley is the former Governor of Maryland. He attended Catholic University, earning a degree in 1985, and University of Maryland School of Law, earning a J.D. in 1988. In 1991, he was elected Baltimore City Councilor (serving until 1999), and went on to become Mayor of Baltimore from 1999-2007. From 2007-2015, he served as Governor of Maryland. O’Malley and wife Catherine (Katie) have four children.

Martin O’Malley officially announced his 2016 campaign for the presidency on May 30, 2015.
